vertical grill inserts

The lower grill insert was extremely easy to install and took less than 2 minutes.
Now, the upper grill inserts.......These came with a note saying professional install recommended.
I installed them myself, extremely difficult to install! The actuall billet grill inserts fit great but the pieces used to secure the inserts were pretty much garbage and do not fit properly. The inserts are secured to the grill using u-brackets.
THE PROBLEM:
When securing the inserts I noticed that the u-brackets would not fit to the shell/black part behind the chrome clip, even if it would it would be very difficult to tighten the bolts/nuts as there is no way your hand can access the back of the chrome clip while it is connected.
I removed my chrome clip (how the pic in the instructions showed it being done) and noticed that the u-brackets did fit but left a huge gap in each of the ends--this causing the clip not to fit back on the car.
The spacers are cheaply made also. You will need to be extra careful when setting the adjustments with the inserts because you may scratch your chrome clip if you aren't careful.
THE SOLUTION:
Basically I had to custom machine and mold the u-brackets to be an exact fit to my chrome clip. This was a very difficult task that took some trial and error and was also very time consuming. It took me around 2 weekends to finish the custom molding of the brackets. I also had to shave down some of the spacers so that they would properly serve their purpose.
THE RESULT:
After installing the inserts (even with my custom molding) the chrome clip was difficult to get back on properly.
My clip has a bolt on each end and to in the middle. The end bolts were easy to fasten on. The 2 in the middle were basically impossible to reach. I only got one bolt fastened and had to leave the other loose. My clip is however on securely.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:
Once your inserts are in, you wi ll need to carry a long scewdriver or something similar to be able to open your hood because the hood latch will no longer be able to be accessed by hand.
If you aren't good with tools you will want a pro to install this for you but i'm sure that would cost a pretty penny because whoever installs it will have to machine new brackets or custom mold the ones that you have.
DO NOT THINK THAT THIS IS AN EASY QUICK INSTALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT!

OVERALL:
They look great and set my hummer apart from all the rest. I would not want to have to install these ever again though.
