5The PERFECT Replacement Grille
By SierraPete
This grille is an absolute work of art compared to the stock, black-barred, plastic monstrosity that came with the pickup. It is made of durable, highly polished stainless steel and I was very satisfied with how much nicer the front of my truck looked after the install. However, if you have never done a grille replacement installation before, there are a few things you should know. First, for the best "how to video" I've seen, check u-tube for: "How To Install Replace Front Radiator Grill Toyota Tacoma 01-04 1AAuto.com". It provides excellent step by step grille removal and re-installation instructions. Be VERY careful when you remove the side marker lights because the top plastic tabs that attach to the radiator frame snap off very easily and are difficult to repair. Once the grille is removed, you need to cut the black plastic vertical bars flush with the surface and remove them. I used a handheld orbital jigsaw which worked fine. I then sanded down the stubs to create a flat surface on the grille surround using a pointed nose mouse type sander and a half dozen medium-fine pads. Next clean the surround, tape the chrome edge then spray it with flat black enamel. Finally, set the new grille into the opening and bolt it in per the instructions. The finished product is a pleasure to behold. I'll be keeping my '03 Tacoma for a few more years...
